Tap a word
Tap any word below to show or hide its pinyin and English meaning. Try it — nothing happens until you tap.
Press and hold for the full definition
A quick tap toggles the gloss. Press and hold instead, and a popup opens with the full dictionary entry, its HSK level, and buttons to hear it pronounced — at normal or slow speed. Try holding down 长按 below (it means "long press").
Save words as you go
Tap the star to save a word — it flies into your saved list and syncs across devices when signed in. Press and hold any saved entry later to reopen the same popup: full definition, pronunciation, your notes.
Control how much shows automatically
The Glosses slider in Settings hides words at or below a chosen HSK level, assuming you already know them. Drag it and watch below. Separate pinyin/translation switches let you turn either off entirely, independent of level.
Mark words you already know
Your vocabulary rarely matches HSK levels exactly. Settings has a "Words you already know" section — paste a list, or tap "✓ I know this" in any popup as you go. Marked words stay hidden by default everywhere, regardless of the slider.
Colors show difficulty
Every word is colored by its HSK level — the further right on this key, the more advanced. "Beyond" means it's outside the official 9-level system entirely (slang, proper nouns, very literary vocabulary).
Tap the translation to hide it
Below each line sits the full translation. Tap it to hide just that line if you want to test your recall — the accent bar stays, marking where to tap it back. Separate from the Settings switch, which hides translations everywhere at once. If the line has a timestamp, tap ↵ beside the Chinese lyrics to jump the video there.
Connected words get underlined
Some grammar patterns split across words that aren't next to each other — like 在……之前 ("before"), where other words sit in between. Those get a matching colored underline. Press and hold either one to see how they connect.
Finding songs
Back in the library, every artist, year, and tag is clickable — tap one and the library filters to everything matching it. Sort by newest, alphabetical, year, or difficulty using the dropdown up top.
